I think the federal government should sanction at least one beach in every U.S. state county which borders an ocean, as a legal clothing optional beach. Also, they should build/open up a nudist resort in every U.S. state county. It might cost them an arm and a leg but we all know that the government spends money on alot of nonsense. They should set some money aside for this culture and make America more unique. What do you people think about this?

` The problem with the federal government being in charge of a nudist beach is the fact the federal government is in charge. Can you imagine the restrictions, rules and red tape there would be, just to get in.

`I remember when State Parks were free to get in, you only paid a fee if you wanted to camp. Now, the same State Parks charge a fee just to get in. The same transformation is happening to National Parks. If we are not careful, "public" lands will soon only be open to those who could have afforded to go to private resorts.

In order for any government money to be spent on clothing-optional recreation there has to be a demonstrated demand for it and the taxpayers must also vote in favor of it. Perhaps even step up a propose legislation for the creation of nude beaches along with stipulations on how the land would be used, managed, maintained, protected and serve the public's interests. There is always more to the story than the initial "idea".
I am not saying it is impossible to get lands set aside for joint use, and in fact in the National Forests of America it used to be the "standard" that visitors were welcome to use these public lands clothing free unless and until another Forest visitor voiced a complaint/opposition. The rule would then be the nudist visitor had to cover-up (get dressed) for the remainder of the day, but they could return the following day and try again if desired. This is about as level-headed, thoughtful policy as anyone can imagine writing as far as I know. Something with equal opportunity for all, equal eligibility AND stipulations regarding how "conflicting" uses would be resolved in practice.
To go further with these ideas requires imagination! Nudists must identify public lands, whether actively used and managed, or sitting idle and unmanaged (i.e. no Ranger, no volunteer park host, etc.) and think about adopting them as our own. Doing a little voluntary park clean-up, writing some letters in support of alternate uses of lands, and organizing people to support these uses in nearby communities.
The Naturist Education Foundation (NEF) is one politically-oriented group that helps unify efforts to educate and enlighten the public on clothing-optionality and I recommend supporting them.
