[Just had my first visit to cap d agde. Anyone heading to europe this is a must, naked shopping bars and so forth miles of golden beaches and 40,000 naked like minded people. This must be the naturist Mecca.
Have fun

I wish we had someplace similar on my side of the ocean. Should I ever find myself in the South of France, I will be there.

I heard there were parts of the naked city, that were dirty and unkept. I hope they have had the time to clean it up? I had also heard there had been reports of people having S-- during the evenings on the beach. I don't know how much of this is true or not? Could you be more specific about your trip there? I'd like to hear some more encouraging news.

Which brings up the question: is this a bourgeois neighborhood, or does it include working-class neighborhoods? I will say this seems to be a dirty little secret of nudism: it is steeped in bourgeois values, i.e. middle-class definitions of "respectability." This, despite the philosophical trope that removing our clothes removes class distinctions. I have found plenty of good people in "dirty and unkempt" neighborhoods, where people have to budget their income differently and cannot always spare a lot for making the place look neat and clean.

It's Europe. You can't expect European mores to be exactly the same as American ones, given that s----lity as well as nudity are more liberated there than Stateside. Goodness, if I was going to be offended by people living with different values than my own, I'd never have left home.
What attracts me to Cap d'Agde is that it is a living city, not a sequestered "resort." I find that simply being nude is not, in itself, a fun way to spend the day, unless there is also something to do. I have had boring days at nudist resorts -- there's only so long I can stand lying around by the pool, so unless there are actual hiking trails (not just a short walk down to the lake), or enough people getting games or activities going, I would have had more fun just being nude at home. At least there, I can always work on some project. Sitting out on a lawn chair is fine for those retired folk who enjoy having nothing to do, but I am not in that stage of life.

`I guess I have never been to a real optional beach. I heard Blacks Beach was being shut down to optional clothing. But rural Arkansas had a great rural area called Albert Pike.. and Texas has Hippie Hollow.. where are the best Irish beaches for natural frollicking?
