Obviously, we can't walk down the street nude -- we'd get arrested. But it seems to me one way to gain acceptance for nudism is to get textile society used to it; after all, it was not so very long ago shorts and t-shirts would have been scandalous.
As for me, I wear short shorts whenever I can -- the shorter the better, usually just long enough to cover the whole buttocks. In Waikiki, I remember seeing women in their bikinis walking several city blocks from the beach to their hotels, and on Oahu's North Shore, I would even see bikini-clad beachgoers inside the Foodland supermarket. When I lived there, I would go running in my neighborhood before sunrise in just a Speedo, and even began to do it in North Carolina later on, after I moved there. Since a Speedo covers everthing required to be covered, I don't suppose you can technically get in trouble, even though people generally do not wear them when not at the beach or pool.
How many of you push the envelope like this? How far have you dared to push it and gotten away with it?

Mossytrail,
I have a extra long t-shirt that has been modified to have excessively large holes in the side underneath the arms. This is one of the t-shirts commonly found in athletic apparel stores selling basketball shorts, running shorts, shoes and other accessories. It comes down almost to my knees and I specifically chose a tan color, not quite skin-color but close, something similar to a seventy-five percent tanned body.
I have worn this modified t-shirt while walking the dog in the early morning with absolutely nothing else underneath. This is best in the Spring and early Fall when walking warms you up just a bit but you do not begin sweating your butt off! I do not want the t-shirt to become drenched in sweat and sag any further down than as intended.
The side openings extend down far enough that people passing by probably can tell I am not wearing shorts underneath and if they think along those lines further the lack of underwear entirely should be apparent. However, as you wrote what is covered is legal in my area. No pubic area or buttocks are visible, and I believe the rule for the butt in our beach resort town area is two-thirds coverage. I have seen people wearing thongs with nearly zero percent coverage this year, but I do not know whether the rules for enforcement have changed or these people are pushing the envelope intentionally.
I would like to wear my minimal-t to the local state park and go for a long hike through the woods wearing only it! This is the next best thing to being uncovered and the air has full access to my entire skin's surface; which was the main goal in designing it. I do not want to offend anyone, but I feel we must do a little more to enjoy our bodies and the environment whenever and wherever we can! Around the home I also have a gold-on-gold ladies scarf which must be over forty-eight inches in length I wear as a wrap-around my waist. This has a decidely Egyptian look to it and definitely covers only the essentials. It is fun, cool and comfortable when I wear it and I have done work in the yard wearing only this item. The total cost of the t-shirt described above was ten to twelve dollars ($10-12 US) and the gold scarf was less than fifteen dollars ($15 US) from Burlington Coat Factory. The scarf is not transparent or translucent and if doubled over provides a fair amount of thickness to insure modesty. Depending on your physique or build and, for the males, you level of arousal, it may be possible to see a silouette of the semi-erect ----- through this item of clothing, so that is just a note of caution for those who may be concerned about that aspect. I do not really think it is that obvious and on any given day if you are busy doing things such as yardwork then the level of arousal should be minimal, right?
Due to the minimal, mid-thigh length of the wrapped scarf, it is necessary to use caution when sitting as the genitalia could be exposed if you are careless. Also important when the weather is hot and humid an "stickiness" is a personal comfort issue.
I hope this information is useful and I look forward to seeing more men and women wearing as little as possible in the future!
Best wishes,
~ Den
